It is proposed that the next World Solar Car Challenge will be run from Darwin to Adelaide, commencing on 16 October 2011.

Teams are required to research, design and build vehicles capable of completing the 3000km journey from tropical Darwin in the Northern Territory to cosmopolitan Adelaide in South Australia. Inspired by the environment, driven by the sun,
the World Solar Challenge promotes and celebrates educational and technical excellence through creative, technical and scientific principles.

World Solar Challenge participants are driven by the knowledge that they are contributing towards a vital search for sustainable transport alternatives. The World Solar Challenge is the premier forum for solar vehicle technology – our goal is to have the fastest car, with the best technology.

TAFE SA aims to have:

  • Kelly with high school students, competing in the adventure class.
  • The Solar Spirit as the fastest solar vehicle in the world in the challenge class
